WayForward is responsible for the games like Contra series, Looney Tunes: Duck Amuck and many other games. Taking into consideration the games produced by WayForward Technologies you can’t question the standard of the game. A boy and his Blob will only be released on Wii. The game will be released in North America in the third quarter of 2009, European release date is set for late 2009.

The gameplay of A boy and his Blob is similar to the original game’s gameplay. It’s a side scrolling game in which the character and his friend Blob travel together on earth and on Blob’s home Blobolonia. The protagonist of the game Blob feeds the Blob jelly bean s to transform him into different objects. This includes a ladder, trampoline, parachute, cannon, shield and many more. The changing nature of the Blob can be used to solve puzzles and defeat enemies. There are over forty levels in the game. The Blob in its every form aids the Boy as he navigates all the forty levels, from a side scrolling view. All the forty levels are filled with hidden treasures and unlockable items on the way to the Emperor’s Castle. The beans include classic beans like Apple Jack, Licorice Ladder and Tangerine Trampoline, with new jelly beans like Caramel Cannon and Bubble Gum Bubble. The disappointing fact for the fans of Wii is that the game does not take advantage of Wii Remote’s motion detection or IR controls.

This new version of the game will feature all new, hand drawn and painted artwork that makes it absolutely stunning. Previously it was predicted that the game will be released as a WiiWare, but now with forty levels the game is believed to be a full retail release. The forty levels mean a lot of jelly feeding and saving the Blobolonia from an evil emperor. When the boy first appeared in 1989, it was a world wide hit. The reason was because it captured the imagination of the gamers with its storyline and unique gameplay. Twenty years later the game is presented in a new avatar, for the completely changed gamers of this era.
