Battlestations: Pacific is an upcoming game developed by Eidos Hungary. It will be developed by the gaming giants Eidos Interactive. It will be released under the genre of action and Real-time tactics video game. The game is direct sequel to Battlestations: Midway a game released in 2007. Purposed platforms for the game are Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360. Battlestations: Pacific will be released in May 2009.

You are given many perspectives to fight Pacific battles in Battlestations: Pacific. A wide range of warships is given to you, ranging from hulking large battleships to small patrol boats. Another option given to the players is taking the control of fighters and bomber jest. Restrictions are very less in the game as you are given a chance to switch between all the units under your command instantly. At any time of battle you can switch to a strategic and issue orders to all of your units, this serves as the strategic part of the game. Basically in the game you have to do both the tasks of commanding and fighting.

This combination is awesome as it keeps you active all the time. For example you can take command of a cruiser that’s stuck in a heavy battle, switching between torpedoes, big guns and flack guns to create land targets, surface threats and even aircrafts. But as the battle shifts to a different location you can just switch to a unit closer to the action. All the fights are presented with a cinematic aplomb. The near miss of a big gun onto the ocean sends sprays of water into the air and water droplets then strikes your screen. The zeroing is awesome about the game whether its’ a beach implement, hostile battle wagon, or infantry in the open. Bracket your targets and just push the button as the indicators turns green.

The graphics of the Battlestations: Pacific, it uses an enhance version of graphic engine. The graphic engine for Battlestations: Pacific is a major overhaul, adding many new options like damage modeling and better use is made of lighting and explosion effects. Days and night cycles are also applied to the game. Planes are also modified from the previous game. New cockpit view is added and the weather conditions are also promised to be change in the battle. There are five modes of the multiplayer is involved into the game. Although specifications about the multiplayer mode are yet to be announced. According to the developers the multiplayer battles will be large this time.

Battlestations: Pacific is set between the Japanese attacks on Pearl Harbor in the year 1941 to the battle of Okinawa in 1945. For the Japanese the game starts from the attacks on Pearl Harbor to midway and to the invasion of America, and for the Americans it starts from the end of midway to Okinawa. Gameplay features of the game are historically correct. The game also gives you chance to play from the Japanese side. The storyline of what could have been if the Japanese had won the midway.
