Borderlands is sci-fi first person shooter with few elements of Role Playing Game. This game is under development by Gearbox Software, who are famous for developing some most famous games round the globe, like Half Life, Counter Strike and Halo. It will be released for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Borderlands was officially announced in September 2007 in an issue of Game Informer magazine. This is the first game in a planned franchise. Release dates are not revealed but the developers hope for a 2009 release.

Game starts in distant future when human civilization is moving to another planet named as Pandora situated on the edge of the galaxy. Several colonization ships are heading towards the planet. Humans are moving out of earth to Pandora in order to search better life and vast mineral resources said to be on the other planet. The situation seems like a futuristic gold-rush, because the resources on the planet are free for all. But to the surprise of humans, they discover that this planet is not up to their expectations & it offers very low resources, only thing present there are some alien ruins. Those who got money leaves instantly and the remaining population devolves into disorderness. Some of them tries to find out the alien technology to become rich quickly, most of them however just trying to survive. Real problem rises in front of the settlers after seven earth years, when many horrifying creatures emerges from hibernation. Now the first priority for the humans is survival. All the creatures generates randomly, as you play the game no two play through are same to each other. Only hope for the colonists on Pandora is a vault on the hill side believed to contain vast sources of alien technology.

You are given controls of three different characters; all of them are completely different from each other and are on the planet for different reasons. Mordecai is the first one he is a professional sniper and is in search of person named Yujinny’s killers and what he was carrying. Second character is a former soldier and disregards law and order. He is on the planet to kill a leader of one of the brigade; he has once sworn to kill. The third and the most interesting character is a siren who used to be a human. She got unbelievable powers but does not know how to control them. She is on the planet to search another siren to learn more about her.

Borderlands loaded with many new features. It will also have a unique feature similar to Diablo’s random level generation system. You are given to choose from 500,000 guns and 500,000 different equipments. What is special about these weapons and equipments is that they all have unique and different features. This game is built on ground-up to be an exciting and intuitive co-operative multiplayer experiences. Vehicle combat is presented in a wonderful way. Maps in the game are also randomly generated. The most attractive and unique feature of Borderlands is a system that changes the surrounding landscape, and many other elements like bunkers, towers, caves, and enemies.
