Data Realms is planning to launch a new game. Cortex Command is there new plan. It will be a 2-dimensional side-scrolling action game. Player has to take control of the boss of a mining company on a newly discovered planet. Now by mining the planet, the player collects resources and weaponry with the goal of eliminating the competition. The feature everybody will love is the ability of player to create mods or additions changes to the game. This is possible by the use of Built in Lua programming Project.

Dan Tabar built the game engine for the game using several open Source libraries. The GUI was built by Jason Boettcher; the artwork is by Arne Niklas Janson, the artwork is by Arne Niklas Jansson. The long awaited MAC OS X port is now completed by Chris Kruger, who had also worked as a programmer for Rockstar Games. As of May 2008, the game was described as being in development for seven years, with Dan Tabar quitting his job in middle of 2006 to focus more on the Project. Console versions were not considered by the developers at that time. The game allows several components to be modified using the Lua programming language. The use of the features is however limited only to game “scenes” or levels at this time. Current game build is 22. They have drawn their inspiration from X-COM: UFO defense series.

The game is under development and unfinished playable version of the game is nade avalaible to try. The control system of the game is said to be to fiddle to be entertaining. According to other players, it requires patience and asked players to take their time and do some experiment with game. The game is compared with other games of the same genre like GunBound and Worms. Positive praise is for the games detailed physics, as well as chaotic gameplay. It will be only release for PC and MAC.
