Sounds amazing 8monkey Labs in Cedar Falls is developing a game to give you the opportunity to travel in time. Name of the title is Darkest Days, it’s an upcoming first person shooter game. Phantom EFX will publish the game. Scheduled release date for the game is around August this year. 8Monkeys is only considering to release the game only for Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. Darkest Days will runs on 8Monkeys proprietary game engine Marmoset. Originally, 8Monkeys targeted the game engine for Microsoft Windows. Marmoset is a full-featured 3D engine, with all Modern capabilities presented in a simple light-weight package. Although only single player mode of the game is announced but developers are promising, multiplayer mode will be released soon after the release foe the game.

Story of the game focuses on Alexander Morris, a soldier fighting in the Bloody Battle of American Civil War. During the carnage of the war, a mysterious man saves Alexander’s life by pushing him in a time portal. The portal takes Alexander to the future, from this point the game turns serious. Once in the future Alexander learns that there is an Evil organization planning to alter the universe by changing the past. Their plan is to disrupt some of the major events and locations. However, they only intent to switch orders as a substitute for murdering people, so that it look more like an accident then a ploy. Many of their objectives are to wipe out whole lineage and several technological discoveries. The protagonist of the game learns that he has been chosen to in order to demolish an entire bloodline in the future.

It will be interesting to play Darkest Days, as you have to travel in several time periods without the gameplay going stale. You are fighting in Antietam in the American Civil War and suddenly you are teleported to Battle of Tannenberg in World War I, where scenario is something else. Everything is different here from battle tactics to explosives. There will be difference in both the wars. Your Foes will act differently and so as your friends. Not just your enemies but their equipments and weapons will also be different. Fighting in both the environments will be give you a different feeling. Battle of Antietam will have hundreds of soldiers at the same time they will move in groups. They will line up and create hell by stabbing each other with swords, knife or bayonette. You will have to fight with the periodic weapons. Everything will be changed once you enter the First World War. Mighty Germans are surrounding unaided Russians Second Army, and you will use heavier weaponry this time. Enemies here are different from the previous one as they will be more trained, they will be quickly dive for covers, use various kind of tactics for defense therefore will be dangerous to fight. Various types of combat missions, like artillery assaults, sniper attacks, stealth will give an action packed feeling to the players. The game is spread on five historical periods. Traveling through all the periods you will discover secrets of many mysterious organizations. You will be fighting for one of them and the sometime come back and fix the problem, thus giving the player to experience the War from both the sides.
