Eat Lead: the Return of Matt Hazard is an upcoming action game for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Many game experts are describing Eat Lead as return of the action game era. Eat Lead is under development by Vicious Cycle Software and will be published by D3 Publisher. Main character of the game is Matt Hazard a legendary game hero. He is back in the business after 6 years. In reality, Matt Hazard is a fictional character by D3 to chronicle the character’s rise and fall popularity. A trailer was released in October 2008 in the narration of Jim Forbes. The trailer focuses on Matt Hazard’s success and hardship. He directly refers to Lara Croft and claims that he nailed her. It is the first real game in a fictional series mirroring the progression of the Duke Nukem series of games, from early 8-bit Modern consoles.

More information regarding the main plot of the story is not revealed. According to the reports Matt Hazard, is a legendary game character. He has 25 years of video games to his credit and now planning to return in a new game on next-generation of consoles. All the old adversaries of Matt Hazard from his previous adventures are included. In reality comeback of Matt Hazard is planned by one of his enemies, CEO of a company. He hates Matt Hazard because of the difficulty of his games. The CEO has complete control over the game world and he manipulates the game world. The game is a spoof of gaming, as such will poke fun at many aspects of gaming and culture. Title character and the villain are voiced by Will Arnett and Neil Patrick Harris respectively. Eat Leads will be released on March 3, 2009.

A pair of websites and a blog was launched by the developers. The blog “The Real Matt Hazard”, as well as the website “Weapons of Matt Destruction”, were used heavily to promote the game. Each of them established Matt Hazard and his fictional video gamer as major influences that have shaped video game into the scenario what we see today. For example, a blog post confirms the 1983’s game The Adventures of Matt in Hazard Land, as the original 8-bit side scroller. All other Hazard games are established as responsible for gaming events and many game developments. A fictional developer for the Hazard games was also created. It was named as Marathon Software.

A trailer with announcement of the game was released on GameTrailer World Exclusive Debut Trailer. Matt Hazard and other characters of the game reminisce about Hazard’s rise in popularity until now when he was put into Kiddy Games. The trailer ends with Matt stating that he is not given up and he’ smacking a comeback. Eat Lead: the Return of Matt Hazard will be a third person shooter game. All the old adversaries of the previous Matt games were also included. There are hack features involved in the game thus giving it sudden and dramatic changes in the game world and changes within the sound, enemy, AI, gameplay and graphics.
