Flock (video game)
From the violent world of Street Fighter and Devil May Cry Capcom is bringing a game based in a sweet and non-violent world. Capcom is now expanding their parameters for the gaming world. They don’t want to stick to the genres of Beat-me-up and action, and want to release as much as possible games in various genres. Next step to change the image of violent gamer is to go for Puzzle games. Puzzle game can be considered as games with least violence. Famous puzzle games like Tetris, Chinese Checkers, Solitaire e.t.c. are some of most played games in the world.
One such game is Flock, under development of Proper Games. To be released in the genre of Puzzle video game, Flock will be published by Capcom. Flock will be released for PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade and Microsoft Windows. The Scheduled for the release of the game will start with the release of the Microsoft windows version on April 7, 2009 through Steam and Stardock’s digital distribution service Impulse, Xbox Live Arcade on April 8, 2009 and PlayStation Network on April 9, 2009.
In Flock all you to do is take control of a UFO that has to herd all of the animals in a level of Mothership, solving brutal puzzles and causing mayhem along the way. The task is to make the route as safe as possible for the animals. It sounds easy but it isn’t, all kind of tricks and traps make this harder than it sounds. Flock is set in a world completely made up of stuffed toys. Almost everything is made from a material of some kind, may be Hessian, felt, wool and Whatnot). A Stuffed Quilt is the material terrain. Rocks, trees, fences, and cliffs everything is stuffed and stitched.
The main skill needed for the game is herding animals, which includes cows, sheep, pigs and chickens. You have to herd them into a mothership “The Mother Flocker”. The task is not easy, as you have to face the hazardous environments the animal exist in. Your main obstacles in your way to the mothership are pits of death, hungry predators. You can also use catapults to send the animals flying. There are over fifty-singleplayer levels in single player campaign. The game is spread in many seasons as summer, autumn and winter.
The game also offer you access to same map editor the developers used to make the officials levels. Therefore, players can make their own puzzles. Players will be able to share maps with others through via a persistent map server. You just know there is some shepherd, somewhere scouring the ‘net on a Blackberry or iPhone while wandering the hills with his flock who’s thinking he could totally do this for real.
