Ever imagined of being a samurai prince fighting against the devil and crime of the world, with the best of a weapon you can think of Katana. If you want to feel, the eternal feeling then try your hands on one of the most prolific game of the century Genji: Days of Blade. It’s an action game available only on PlayStation 3, released on November 11, 2006 in Japan and November 16, 2006 in North America. It is based on Japanese ancient stories, which actually took place in ancient Japan.

Its three years now since the end of Genji: Dawn of the Samurai and from here on story of Days of the Blade continues. The heishi clan, was nearly vanished in the end of Dawn of the Samurai, has returned with its military strength boosting by the use of unholy magic, which gave them power to change into devilish demons. Yoshitsune and his friend Benkei have to fight against the newly and more powerful devil army of Heishi. However, they are not alone this time as powerful allies support with them. Priestess Shizuka and spear wielder Lord Buson are the two allies respectively.

Just like in the previous game player have to control many characters. Four in Genji: Days of the Blade. Four players being — Yoshitsune, a samurai and the hero of the previous game; Benkie, a giant club-wielding monk, Yoshitsune’s old friend; Shizuka, a female crescent blade wielder; and Lord Buson, A spear-wielding warrior who bears a striking resemblance to one of the Yoshitsune’s old foes. All of the four characters have separate life bars; however if one player die’s game will end despite of the other characters life at the given time. This time characters can access to real time weapon change feature that lets them switch between their main weapons quickly and without disturbing the flow of combat. This feature was absent in the previous game. Days of blade is one of the first game to use the built in hard drive on PlayStation 3. You are given the option of installing a large portion of the game on the hard drive reducing load time.

Critical reception of this game was very good, with scoring above 70% on most of the gaming critics. One of the first site to score Genji was Famitsu, scoring it 29/40. IGN reviews were 6.5/10. Genji was praised for its excellent graphics, sound, and boss battle concepts. While it was criticized for lack of lack of camera control, which causes difficulty determining where you should you go next or where the enemy was. Overall ratings of Genji: days of blade were superb. Genji was one of the first games to be played on RSX. Making it one of the finest game in matter of graphics. So if you wanna feel like a samurai prince saving the world from the devil with your katana, you better try Genji: days of blade.
