Gyakuten Kenji
Gyakuten Kenji or “Turnabout Prosecutor” in english is an upcoming adventure video game. It will be released for Nintendo DS handheld video game console by Capcom in Japan. It is a spin-off of Acne Attorney video game series. The game started by the name of “NEW Gyakuten NOT Saiban.” As the title reflects that it would involve similar characters, the gameplay would be different from other games in the Ace Attorney series, or maybe just that the game’s title would include “ Gyakuten”, but “Kenji” instead of “Saiban”. Releasing the game outside is not yet confirmed by the developers.
Full details are not yet known. It will be different from other games, which all are visual novels with adventure game elements. This game is similar to “point and click” adventure with players controlling Edgeworth’s movements and what he interact with. Main motive in both of the gameplay’s is to collect evidence to determine who perpetrator is, how the crime was committed and their motives. Players can either use the D-Pad or touch the small image representing the place on the touch screen. While colliding an examinable object or a NPC they can talk or interact to them by pressing “A” button. If you press “Y” button or “ Partner Button” you can talk with Edgeworth’s actual partner. Touching the logic button or pressing “L” button will lead the player to the “ Logic Mode” interface. In the end touching the “R” button will lead you to “ Investigation Tab”, where evidence and profiles, replacing the well-known “Court Record” from the Gyakuten Saiban series.
According to the scans there are four crime scenes. These are Edgeworth’s Office, an airplane’s elevator, a “Mirror House”-like building and a back alley close to the Wright and Co. Law Office. Other then these four locations two suspicious looking locations, a water park and a music concert venue. The game is divided into two parts, as :
Episode 1: Turnabout Airline - In the middle of a flight, Edgeworth and flight attendant Ichiru Konomichi discover a dead body in the plane’s elevator, and Edgeworth is treated as the culprit. Zinc White, Franziska von Karma and Mikumo Ichij? appear for the first time in this episode, along with Konomichi.
Episode 1: Turnabout Visitor - Shinji Nakamato’s corpse appears in Edgeworth’s office, and he decides to investigate it. Prosecutor Makoto Y?ki appears, and claims himself as “Edgeworth’s rival”. According to scans, one of Episode 1’s Confrontations will have Y?ki as the target.
Capcom confirmed that starting characters of the game will be Miles Edgeworth and Dick Gumshoe. According to Capcom the game is set to be place near the time of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations. It also includes many characters from the game series. A new female character is also included her name is Mikumo Ichijo. The developers stated that they have taken care to capture the animations correctly like making sure that Edgeworth’s running animations were “graceful” while exerting effort.
