Imagination Is The Only Escape is an upcoming game by Luc Bernard. Luc Bernard is famous for creating Eternity’s Child. It is developed jointly by Luc Bernard and Silver Sphere Studios. Imagination Is The Only Escape will be published by Alten8. Currently the game is only developed for Nintendo DS, but according to developers, it was suggested the game may be released as a cgame instead. The game will be released for Platform genre with only single player mode. Release date is not confirmed but the company’s plan is to release the game in 2009.

At first glance, Imagination Is the Only Escape will look like a dark and dreary Platform game. However, in reality it is an educational title aiming to teach children about the holocaust. Imagination Is The Only Escape is set during the World War II. It teaches children about the bad and worst situation of holocaust. The story of the game starts before the Occupation of France of by Nazi Germany. At this moment of the game you are introduced to the main character of the game, a Jewish boy named Samuel. He is living a normal life in Paris, going to school, and playing with his friends. Suddenly every thing changes in his life when France is invaded by the Nazis. Samuel is forced to live in a Ghetto and wear the yellow Jewish Star on their clothes.

Scenario is then shifted to the Rafle du Vel’ d’Hiv, Jews are shown rounded up in Paris on July 16, 1942. During all this chaos, Samuel’s mother tells him to run away from the city. She takes away his star so he cannot be recognized as a Jew. She gives him the address of a catholic priest who can help him escape Paris and the other part of the occupied France. Unfortunately, as Samuel escapes, his mother is spotted and taken away. Now alone Samuel starts his journey to find the priest, sneaking his way through Paris. Soon Samuel finds him and then he is smuggled out to the southern France. He arrives at a small village hidden in a forest, where villagers are passing off Jewish children from all over the France as Christian orphans. Here he meets a fox who tells him if he helps him, he will be able to see his mother again.

There are two controversies with Imagination Is The Only Escape. One is for its dark settings and subject matter. As portraying Nazis was always an issue. Other matter was Nintendo America has stated that they have no plans to release the game. Bernard claims that they the company is afraid of the game’s subject matter. However, Nintendo Europe has no such plans and they will be releasing game on time.
