Killzone 2 is an upcoming dedicated sci-fi first person shooter game. Developing under Guerrilla Games, which are famous for their sci-fi games. Sony Computer Entertainment will publish Killzone 2, as they completely own Guerrilla Games. Also for that reason, you can only play Killzone 2 on PlayStation 3. It is the third game in the Killzone franchise that began on the PlayStation 2 with Killzone. Other game Killzone: Liberation was launched only for PlayStation Portable. Release of Killzone was announced at E3 2005 in Los Angeles. Sony Computer Entertainment also released later trailers and previews. Release date set for Killzone 2 is 27^th February 2009.

Main story follows the story of Killzone: liberation, Killzone, and take place entirely on Helghan. It is the home for Helghast who invaded an Interplanetary Strategic Alliance (ISA) colony in previous Killzone installments. Two years after the Helghast assault, the ISA is planning to launch a fight against them. However, this time humans are not defending, they are taking the assault to Helghast. The ISA goal is direct: capture the Helghast leader, Emperor Visari, and bring the Helghast war machine to a halt. The role to be played by the users will be of SGT SEV, a battle-hardened veteran and a member of the Special Forces unit known as legion. For Sev and his squad, the invasion of Helghan is just the beginning. While fighting against the Helghast, Sev’s unit is ordered to stay behind enemy lines to assist the main invasion force. Their task is to secure Phyrrhus the enemy capital. While securing the City the team discovers that Helghast are more fearful enemy on their home planet. They are well adapted to the harsh conditions of their planet and adding to the worse, they have generated a power they can use against the ISA. Helghan is a barren planet with thick dense, acidic air, dust clouds, and violent surgical lightning storms providing natural defense to the enemy. ISA discovers that they are not just fighting against the helghan army but also with the fiercest planet. One of the primary objective of Killzone 2’s army will be to disarm a stockpile of seized nuclear weapons.

What is Guerilla Games aim with Killzone 2 is players should get the immersive and cinematic gameplay. Using a technique called “Hollywod Realism”. The game is presented entirely from first person point of view, through Sev’s eyes. Specialty of Killzone 2 is feature named “lean and peak” which allows the player to take cover behind an object, and then pop out fire at enemies. The feature of “lean and peak” stays in first person view all the time. Killzone 2 also supports PS3 trophies. Main protagonist of the game or Sev will be ale to pilot vehicles. Many Killzone classic weapons are back like M82-G and StA-52 LAR. Turning wheel and sniping will use six-axis. Guerilla Games are also developing Killzone 2’s multiplayer component. The multiplayer gameplay is class based, meaning that you can choose a class character which is specialized for a specific role to better suit the players Need in battle. Much of the information is not released about the multiplayer option.

Gaming experts are hoping that this game will prove to be the contender for best game of 2009. However, taking into consdiration the franchise’s previous game anything is possible. Prior to the release of Killzone, it  also received the same critical reviews; it was even stated to be “Halo killer” but got only mild reception from gamers.
