MLB 09: The Show is a baseball simulation game for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 2. It is produced and developed by Sony Computer Entertainment. MLB 09: The Show is the fourth installation of the MLB: The show series. MLB is the longest running game series on PlayStation platforms. It is licensed by Major League Baseball. MLB 09: The Show was released on March 3, 2009. Released under the genre of Sports it is available in single player, multiplayer and online multiplayer versions. The game runs on a special engines for all the three platforms. For PlayStation 3 – MLB 07/ San Fran Studios, for PlayStation 2 – MLB 06, and for PlayStation Portable – San Diego Studios Engine. As the game is baseball simulation, the player will control one or all of the players from a Major League Baseball or from some Minor League Baseball teams. “Progressive Batting Performance” it will allow bare-hand flip. One more thing changed is “Hotshot Fielding” it will allow more animations and dynamic fielder reactions. The “Multi-Branch Fielding”, will allow players to take the full control of the fielders and record any animation in between. For the catchers API (Advanced Pitching Intelligence) it will help them to find out the strengths and weakness of the batters. The game will include seventeen types of pitching. Other new additional feature for the Pitchers is PCS (Pitch Command System), it will affect the pitchers ability to throw a specific pitch change depending on how often pitcher throws it.

Going for the strategies before game there is pitch analysis, it’s a breakdown of all the pitches thrown during the current game being played. By using the pitch analysis players can sort out a pitcher by LHB or RHB result and pitch type and also result. Same feature is available for batters. To store their game preference on the server a new feature called as SportsConnect Online User Tracking or SCOUT is involved in the game.
