It is a side scrolling platform video game. The game is developed and published by Nintendo. Main designer for the game is Shigeru Miyamoto, the man behind some of the best games and characters of the gaming world. Some of them are Donkey Kong, Mario, Star Fox, The Legend of Zelda, Nintendogs and Pikmin. The game will be released in Q4 2009 for the console of Wii as a sequel of New super Mario Bros. New Super Mario Bros. Wii was announced at Nintendo’s press conference at E3 2009 for the first time. Most notable point about the game is that it will be the first game in the Super Mario Bros. series with simultaneous multiplayer gameplay in normal levels. The game will support up to four players in the co-op mode of the game.

All the elements of the game will be almost same as that of the New Super Mario Bros. The game will be played in the classic Wii style, with the Wii Wireless Remotes held horizontally. Some movements like picking up other players and spinning are performed by shake of Wii remote and other movements like attacks and jumping are performed by the buttons. There will be four playable characters in the game from the Mario series: Mario as player one, Luigi player two and two Toad characters blue and yellow as player three and four. Players can pick each other and throw them. Once the player is dead, he can resume play if the other player hits a bubble with the dead player inside the bubble. Items will come in blocks from either the blocks or the bubbles floating on the screen. Some of the new items added in the game like Penguin Suit, which will help the player in freezing the enemies, and a Propeller Suit, which allows players to fly. Yoshis similar to the Yoshis found in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island and Super Mario World can be used as fast rides.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii. will feature competitive elements like collecting most coins and points. Rankings will be given at the end of the each level which will also include stats as if coins collected, enemies defeated and total points. It was confirmed by Shigeru Miyamoto that the game will not have an online multiplayer. For the first time on Wii the option of demo play is included. Using the “demo play” players can now pause the game and wait till the game clears the level for them and can resume at any time. The game is developed in return to Shigeru Miyamoto’s desire for a Mario series game with settings of a multiplayer game. Previously he was unable to bring his idea to the completion. But this time hardware from Wii allowed him to bring all the enemies on one screen with a camera that could focus on all the players simultaneously. Koopalings who first appeared in an early Mario game will be the main enemy of the game.

The game will be released in the genre of Action-adventure and Puzzle. However, release dates are still to be confirmed by the developers, we may see the game somewhere in the year 2010. In May 2009, a concept trailer was released for the game and following it, the game was officially announced.
The game will revolve around the friendship of a boy and a giant feathered creature “sea eagle” or “erne” in the Japanese title. The game shows how they found each other as good friends. Initially the monster is shown with a large spears and arrows stuck in his back and he is bound to a chain as well. Later the monster is shown attacking an armored soldier. Most probably, the monster is freed by the boy. It is clearly observable in trailer and the screenshots that the boy is attempting to slip past and attack other soldiers. The game will be played in a third person prospective. Character controlled by the players is an unnamed boy who can jump, run, climb, upon and ride. Ueda stated that creature in the game will be driven by natural behavior and animal instincts and it will be player’s guidance, which will lead the creature. Players will have to take the advantage of the creature’s natural behavior in order to solve the puzzles. For an instance, if you want the creature to move in a specific direction then throw a barrel in that direction, this will gain creatures interest and your job is will done. Using the animal instincts is not the only use of the creature sometime in game players should find a way to make the creature silent and stand still while he completes the game.

Partially the game will is based on the interaction between the player and horse Agro in Shadow of the Colossus. Game designers are planning to make the interaction between the boy and the animal to be more real. A full physical engine is used as the game engine in the game. This is a new feature and not seen in the previous games of Team Ico. In one scene when the boy throws a barrel and the creature eats the barrel, this is one of the scene completely rendered in the game engine. The game engine used in The Last Guardian is a modified version of AI processing. First hint for the game is as old as January 2008 on Sony Japans website. A video was released via PlayStation Lifesyle blog in May 2009, it shows an early footage of the game. The video features the music and showing the boy tries to be friendly with the monster. The trailer released at E3 2009 was completely different from the previous one. This time it included more photorealistic rendering on the remaining world. President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide stated that he is disappointed because of the leaked video. By the way its long time ahead, but from the details The Last Guardian is looking interesting and it may be a gift to the players who love puzzle settings.
