Duke Nukem Forever or DNF is the name of upcoming first person shooter. It is under development of 3D Realms. All the Duke Nukem franchise games are produced or published by 3D Realms. The Game follows Duke Nukem 3D as the next game is 3D realms’ Duke Nukem series and is directed by one of the creators of the original Duke Nukem game, George Broussard. Any released date is not set for the game by 3D Realms; instead they stated that the game will be released once it’s finished. DNF was announced back in 1997. But release of the game has been postponed on various occasions.

Presented through newly released footage and screenshots plot of the game looks interesting. 3D Realms released trailers at the 1998 and 2001 E3 conventions and screenshots between those years. DNF has undergone various changes since its last trailer was released. The 2001 trailer shows an alien invasion in Las Vegas. Duke was shown fighting with various weapons. Duke fights various aliens in many areas like mine, some rural areas, on water, indoor areas, and on streets of Las Vegas. However later in 2003, the 3D Realms cleared that the screenshots are no longer part of the game. In 2008 Miller confirmed that DNF features a retired Duke, who owns a club known as “The Lady Killer,” which comes under attack from aliens.

Duke Nukem Forever was officially announced on April 28, 1997. A license was also purchased to use Quake II engine. Intentions were to release the game no later than MID-1998. Original prototype work started on the game as early as January. First screenshots of the game were released in PC Gamer, in the November issue. But 3D Realms didn’t receive the Quake Engine II codes until November 1997. In June 1998 3D realms shifted to Epic’s Unreal Engine. Fans were worried about the game as switching the game engine will take more development time, thus delaying game further. The developers said that switching engine will not take more than a month to six weeks and DNF would be ready for the release till 1999.

In 2002 team of DNF hired new programmers and completely rewrote the renderer and other game engine modules, beginning work on a new generation of game content. 95% of the previous level design work was scrapped in the process. Again developers promised that the new game will take about two years to be shipped with UT based version of the game. The current game engine supports features such as normal mapping, pixel shading, and high dynamic range based lighting. On September 14, 2004 it was reported that 3D Realms had replaced Karma physics engine with one designed by Meqon. In latest news about the game George Broussard posted in his Twitter account that “Game developers often say ‘Cutting is shipping.’ We begin this year with a vengeance and a chainsaw. This indicates that the game will most probably release at the end of 2009. On March 9, 2009 the site www.dukeisback.com was registered and updated with duke nukem pics suggesting a 2009 release date. Once completed it will be released for Microsoft Windows.

Cursed Mountain is one of the best survival horror games (at least it can be observed in the trailer). Cursed Mountain is a survival horror video game for Wii, first of its kind for Wii. Now Wii wants to break the shackles and they are releasing games in every genre. This is the first for the survival horror theme. Cursed Mountain is developed by Sproing interactive and Deep Silver will publish the game. Deep Silver is famous for publishing many survival horror games. Deep Silver is also famous for Duke Nukem Trilogy. Release dates are not revealed but the game is expected to be out in 2009 end. The game revolves around a brother searching for his brother lost in the Himalayas.

The combat in the game primarily consist of encounters with people who have died climbing mountain, and whose souls are suspended in Bardo. The players not only have to fight against them but also have to make gestures to free their souls. Cursed Mountain is designed in such a way that player will make use of many features of the Wii remotes. Like built in speakers, which are not used widely prior to this game. The developers are promising to incorporate Wii MotionPlus into the control scheme. If the feature of the Wii MotionPlus is installed, making gestures to free the souls of the ghosts will be an easy job.

The game’s main focus is on ghosts rather then corporeal monsters. Cursed Mountain promises you a different kind of violent gameplay. It is different from the bloody, visceral, visceral experience of other survival horror games. Hannes Siefert, developer from Deep Silver stated that “it’s violent in the sense of ever present danger and very aggressive environments and enemies. But you can’t be violent against ghosts and mountains. So cursed mountain is cursed is violent but in another unorthodox way.

Cursed Mountain is set in the late 1980’s, due to lack of technology available in the time period. Protagonist of the game is Eric Simmons, is searching his brother. His brother climbed Chomolonzo, a mountain in the Himalayas, without first completing the rituals of the locals. Now he is hanging between the world of life and death unable to travel in any direction. Eric not only has to find his brother but he has to free him from the curse. Players must content with villagers, pilgrims, mountaineers, Buddhist monks, and evil ghosts and demons as they unravel the mystery of the location. And for what? The climber isn’t at all convinced that his missing brother is still alive.

General Features

The gesture-based combat system takes full advantage of the motion sensitivity of Wii. Players will use the Wii Remote to look around, sense the environment, climb and fight enemies.
