The Avatar is the most discussed game and movie of the year, both movie and the game will release fall of 2009. The game is better known as James Cameroon’s Avatar: The Game, since the game is a adaptation of James Cameroon directed movie of the same name. The game is developed by Ubisoft Montreal and will be published by Ubisoft. Legendary game engine of Ubisoft, Dunia which was last used in Far Cry 2 is used as the engine for the game. Avatar: The Game will be one of the biggest release and will be released on all the seventh generation consoles including, Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 3, Microsoft Windows and PlayStation Portable. The game will be released in action adventure genre and will be played in First Person Perspective. Ubisoft announced that the game will use the same 3D technology which is used in the movie. Two modes to be featured in the game will be Single and cooperative multiplayer mode. Although the game will be based on the movie, premise of the game will feature some difference from the movie. Working ground of the movie is Pandora an alien planet and the game will include Na’vi’ native people to Pandora and discovering other life forms on the alien planet.

Ubisoft announced in July 4, 2007 that they will develop Avatar. According to the director of the movie Avatar James Cameroon, for the movie they have created a world rich in detail, character, conflict and cultural depth. The game features something which most of the modern gamers expect from the games like, rich visuals and ideas and also lot of challenges in the gameplay. James Cameroon further cleared that he asked Ubisoft to be free with the development and don’t think of this as a movie based game. Ubisoft responded with a fully realized presentation which captured the soul of the characters and world. It was announced on July 24, 2009 that Sigourney Weaver will play as Dr. Grace Augustine. Other actors from the movie who will feature in the game will be Michelle Rodriguez, Stephen Lang and Giovanni Ribisi. Ribisi will reprise his role of arrogant Parker Selfridge but only in the Wii version of the game. Col. Quaritch antagonist of the film is played Lang and Michelle Rodriguez will play Trudy Chacon chopper pilot of the main player, in the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows version. Although it is still to be confirmed whether Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana will be a part of the game or not. They will play as lead roles in the movie. James Cameroon’s Avatar: The Game will require a HDMI output and 120Hz capable set in order to benefit the 3D effects in the game. Wii version will use Jade Engine as the game engine instead of Duniya which will be used in all the other versions of the game.  Wait for the fall of the year to get your hands on this biggest project of the year.

Far Cry is one the four game that are regarded as pillars of First person Shooter (FPS) genre. Developed by Crytek, German game developers and published by Ubisoft, it hit the market on March 23, 2004 and within the period of four months is sold more than 730,000 units. A sequel to the game was released on October 23, 2008 and it changed the history of gaming. Instead of Crytek Far Cry 2 was developed and published by Ubisoft. Genres of the game are First person shooter, action and Sandbox. So it can be said that Far Cry 2 is played in first person shooter perspective with lot of action in sandbox style of gameplay.

Far Cry 2 is based in a fictional troubled nation in Central Africa in the year 2008. The nation is involved in an civil war and many mercenaries have been called by the two main factions of the country fighting for power. Two faction in the game are APR (Alliance for Popular Resistance) lead by Oliver Tambossa and UFLL (United Front Liberation and Labour) lead by Addi Mbantuwe. Both of the factions are corrupt and their only interest is money and power. To win the war both sides have hired many mercenaries and protagonist of the game is one of them. Adding to the woes is the discovery of diamond mines with all the factions and foreign mercenaries without payment are fighting  for them. Player has to fight against all these factions and soldiers and also the major villain of the game the Jackal. He is arm dealer providing weapons to both to the factions and increasing the war. Aim of then player in the game is to find Jackal and kill him. Most of the soldiers in the game will be enemies except few friends which will include mercenaries. The game is divided in 4 acts with each having two endings. Be a mercenary and fight for money, diamond and blood.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell every single gamer on earth knows what this name means, it gave a new dimension not just to FPS (First Person Shooter) but to most of the genres of modern gaming. Splinter Cell gave players a new kind of gameplay where instead of gun- fights and combats focus was on sneaking around, using darkness and shadows to hide. Now they are back with a new game Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction. It will be developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. Originally, Conviction should have been released long ago on November 16, 2008, but were delayed due to unknown reasons. Most recent delay pushed its date of release to 2009-2010 fiscal year.

The story of the Conviction will take two years after Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Double Agent. It was confirmed by the developers in an article by IGN. Main protagonist of the Splinter Cell series Sam Fisher comes out of hiding because of an unspecified danger to his friend and co-worker Anna Grimsdottr. He returns to Third Echelon and find that organization has fallen into disarray caused by bureaucratic limitations and internal power struggles. Enraged by the inability of Third Echelon to decide what’s right, Sam Strike out its own.

On July 16, 2007, it was announced by that composers Kaveh Cohen and Michael Nielsen will compose music for Conviction. They will be associated by music house Groove Addicts. SoundTrackNet posted a news item from the scoring session for the game, featuring photographs of the orchestral recording of the music. This will be the first score of video game by the fellow composers and the music company.

On 21, September 2006 promotional images, artwork and the logo of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction were leaked. They were leaked in a RAR file along with many other unreleased games. First screenshots were revealed on a message board with many photographs of screenshots in a magazine featuring shots of Sam Fisher. Identity of Sam Fisher looked changed as he is now with full grown beard, throwing chairs and people around and blending with crowd and engaging in a firefight from behind cover. Video of the Conviction showed lighting and shadow effects are vastly improved from previous game of the series Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Double Agent.

Ubisoft released the first trailer of the game on may 23, 2007. Sam was shown more like a civilian and dealing with the enemies with help of chairs and tables. Events take place in Washington D.C. Several other monuments of Washington was also featured in the game including the Korean War Memorial, the United States Capitol and the Washington Monument. The trailer was 1:52 minute long and is available on official website of the game as well as on Xbox Live Marketplace.
